Oregon City’s Family-Owned HVAC Experts, Serving the Community Since 2001

Chase Heating & Cooling is a family-owned and operated HVAC company rooted right here in Oregon City. We handle heating and cooling for homeowners across Clackamas County and the Portland metro area, and we do it the way a family business should: honestly, thoroughly, and without shortcuts. If you’ve been looking for HVAC services in Oregon City from a team that actually cares, you’ve found them.

The Story Behind the Name

Paul Shearer got his start in the HVAC industry in 1988. For over a decade, he honed his craft working for other companies, building skills, building a reputation, and forming a clear idea of how he’d do things differently if he ever ran his own operation. In November 2001, he and Kellie made it happen. Together, they founded Chase Heating & Cooling, Inc., named after their son Chase.

Kellie and Paul have run the business as equal partners from day one. Kellie is involved in the day-to-day decisions that keep the company running, from operations to customer relationships, while Paul brings decades of hands-on HVAC expertise to every job. It’s a genuine team effort, and that shows in how the company operates.

From the beginning, the business has been built on one principle: earn every referral. Chase Heating & Cooling started as a referral-based company, which means the work has to speak for itself every single time. There’s no room for shortcuts when your next customer is standing in your current customer’s living room.

More than two decades later, that foundation hasn’t moved. Their son, Chase, is now part of the team too, helping shape the marketing and brand that bear his name. When you call Chase Heating & Cooling, you’re not reaching a call center. You’re reaching a local Oregon City family that’s invested in this community for the long haul.

Meet the Team

Chase Heating & Cooling is built around a skilled team of technicians who take the work seriously. Our crew handles everything from furnace repair and air conditioning installation to heat pump service and indoor air quality, all without cutting corners.

We’re a small, tight-knit operation. Our skilled technicians are trained, EPA certified, and backed by years of hands-on experience serving Oregon City and the surrounding areas.

The dogs are part of the team, too. They’ve been with the Chase family almost as long as the business has existed, and you’ll find them in our social media and photos. We are a real family business, through and through.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Chase Heating & Cooling different from other HVAC companies in Oregon City?

We built this business on referrals, which means the standard for quality and honesty has been baked in from the start. We use high-quality equipment, we don’t upsell you into something you don’t need, and we give you straight answers, whether that’s what you want to hear or not. We also live in the community we serve, which means we have a real stake in caring for it. No shortcuts, no corporate runaround — just a local family business that’s been earning its neighbors’ trust since 2001.

What HVAC services does Chase offer?

We handle heating and cooling from end to end: furnace repair and installation, air conditioning services, heat pump installation and repair, ductless mini-split systems, dual fuel systems, indoor air quality, duct repair, and maintenance plans through our Comfort Care Club.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We provide free estimates for new equipment. Call us at 503-254-1274 or submit a request online and we’ll get back to you promptly.

How much does the average HVAC job cost?

It depends heavily on the scope of work. A routine tune-up or minor repair might run a few hundred dollars, while a full system replacement can range from $5,000 to $12,000 or more depending on the equipment, your home’s size, and what installation requires. Chase provides detailed quotes before any work begins so there are no surprises.

What does an average HVAC system cost?

A new central HVAC system in Oregon typically costs between $6,000 and $12,000 installed, though heat pumps, ductless systems, and dual fuel setups can vary. Oregon homeowners may also be eligible for Energy Trust of Oregon rebates that can meaningfully offset the cost of energy-efficient upgrades. We’ll walk you through your options and any available incentives when you get your estimate.

What is the 3-minute rule for AC?

The 3-minute rule refers to waiting at least three minutes after turning off your air conditioner before turning it back on. This gives the refrigerant pressure time to equalize and protects the compressor from starting under load — which can cause damage over time. If your AC is short-cycling or shutting off unexpectedly, that’s worth having a technician take a look at.

Do you offer maintenance plans?

Yes. Our Comfort Care Club membership includes three precision tune-ups per year, priority scheduling, a discounted diagnostic fee, 15% off repairs, and Chase Bucks you can put toward future equipment. It’s designed to keep your system running well and help you avoid bigger repair costs down the road.
